This is my entry for *artistic-minds's "Create your own Original Princess Contest": [link]
Ashaeda is the firstborn princess of the elven kingdom of Miolyrr. The elves have just ended a bitter war that cost her father's life. But while her people are slowly putting their kingdom back together, her mother, Queen Arandine, has never recovered from his loss. She slips further toward madness with each passing day, and Ashaeda is forced to act as queen in her stead. But even though she is unfit to rule, the volatile queen is not ready to surrender her place. Ashaeda begins to fear for the kingdom, for herself, and most of all for her younger siblings. She runs away with them, hiding them in a secluded village while she quietly gathers an army to claim the throne. Those who follow her regard her as strong, gentle, calm and level-headed. She knows they trust her and would do anything for her, and she is careful not to take this trust for granted. But after the Queen finds out where her siblings are hiding and kills them, Ashaeda becomes less focused on reclaiming her kingdom. Her thoughts begin to stray more towards revenge. When the story begins, she has not been seen in Miolyrr for almost 20 years. Elves still whisper her name, wondering if she'll return, or if she even lives. Her mother still lies awake at night, wondering if she will appear and kill her in her sleep. Spies have searched every corner of the land, even the neighboring human lands, but so far no trace of her has been found. |

If all the world were paper
And all the sea were ink
And all the trees were bread and cheese
What should we do for drink?
